St John's is one of the oldest Christian sites in Europe, still functioning as a church. The current church is in need of urgent repair to keep its doors open and in these uncertain economic times its future lies in the balance. We as custodians cannot allow this to happen so on the 28th of April in the presence of His Grace The Duke Westminster we will launch an appeal for 10million pounds over the next 10years. This is extremely bold but this building must not close. We have major backing from English Heritage and are now looking for more funding to start a 10 years restoration and enhancement programme. This is the biggest building project at St John's since the middle ages.

The History England

Some of the key events in the history of England have taken place here. This was the site of Chester's holy rood. We were the host at the Unification of England. Our Organ was played at Queen Victoria's Coronation It has some of the finest Norman architecture in the UK. Members of the media we need your support. We have a unique story to tell and an appeal to launch. On the 28th April His Grace will unveiling the triptych .
